Fruits for curing Insomnia

Recently I met a friend who dreams a lot – literally – which means she never really sleep very well. Somehow I read a Chinese article about eating certain fruits can improve insomnia. Here I’d like to share it in English. I have no idea if these will work. But after all, they’re just FRUITS. It’s no harm no matter what.

Most people have to take pills for better sleep. Of course, in this blog we try to recommend every healing methods, not necessary Chinese, that are more natural or at least more “organic”. There are some specialists recommending certain fruits that helps sleep.

xinsrc_24209062411204682883120

1. Kiwifruit

The latest research says taking two kiwifruit everyday can improve sleeping quality for 40%. Sleeping problem usually caused by exciting nerve system or abnormal hormone secretion from stress. The calcium in kiwifruit, which rarely appears in fruit, helps to stabilize emotion and control sensory nerves. The calcium, magnesium and vitamin C helps the material transportation within the sensory nerve  system.

xinsrc_2420906241120843873521

2. Grapes

There is a research saying grapes helps healing insomnia because grapes contains an element that is called “Melatonin”. Melatonin is secreted from pineal in our brain and it helps adjust the sleeping time. Melatonin is mostly secreted at night to tell us it’s about time to sleep. So if we eat grapes, more melatonin will tell our brain to start sleeping. So grape wine would help even better because it contains alcohol as well.

Jujube

3. Jujube

Jujube is more like a Chinese fruit. It helps stabilize mental state. We can also boil jujube after dinner with some water and drink it or make jujube porridge with lily leaves to eat before sleeping. It’s going to help sleeping.

4. Apple

Well, apple seems to be good for health. Basically it’s supposed to be good for everything, like Kiwifruit, Calcium and Vitamin C and many elements helps our sensory nerves. However, another reason apple can help sleeping is its smell. It’s smell strongly stabilize our nerve system and help us sleep.

Acidic blood and cancer (Part 2)

(cont’d from Part 1)

So last time I posted a story about how a Doctor in Taiwan made an assumption of relationship between acidic physical condition. This post is about how to stay away from turning our body acidic.

————————————

Acidic physical conditions manifest itself in:

1. Skin without luster

2.Athlete’s foot

3. Feeling tire even with very little exercise, and feeling sleepy the moment one gets on to public buses.

4. Easily out of breath; going up and down stairs.

5. Fat and with lower stomach protruding,

6. Move slowly and movement lethargic.

〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜

Why does the body physical condition turn acidic?

1. Excessive intake of dairy acidic food.

a) meat, dairy products, eggs, beef, ham, etc are acidic food.

b) taking too much acidic food will cause the blood to become acidic and viscous, difficult to flow to the end of blood vessels, leading to cold feet or knee, stiff shoulders and insomnia.

c) When one is young and strong, taking suitable quantity of meat is appropriate, but older people it more suitable to have a diet which are primarily vegetables or small fish.

2. Irregularity in the pace of life will cause the body physical condition to become acidic

a) Irregular pace in life will lead to mental and physical stress

b) According to statistics, people who sleep late are more likely to have cancer than normal persons, by as much as 5 times.

c) Human beings originally lead a life with regular tempo in this world, it is not possible to store up sleep or food and not possible to change the order of living by mixing up days and nights.

d) Human organs are controlled by the autonomic nerves, and during day time it is mainly sympathetic nerves activities, and at night it is mainly the parasympathetic nerves which are functioning, If this order is disturbed and reversed, then diseases will result.

3. Emotion over tensed.

a) Civilised society brings stresses.

b) Job related or mental stresses.

c) A person suffers mental stress, when the stress is removed and the person relaxes, sometimes this may lead to death, referred to as the syndrome of imperfect adrenal cortex function.

4. Physical Stress.

a) Before any operation it would be necessary to check to see if the renal cortex does function normally. If the adrenal cortex is lacking, or if the stress imposed by the operation exceeded the ability of adrenal cortex to cope, it could lead to death or other undesirable impacts.

b) If it noted that  patient’s face is puffy, it would be necessary to inquire in detail the patient’s medical history and medication status, for patients taking adrenal cortical hormone, extra care should be exercise when administering acupuncture.

c) Stress due to physical labour or exercise in excess, whole night card games, driving etc should be avoided as much as possible

〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜

Appendix: Acidity/alkalinity of Common food stuff

1. Strongly acidic food: egg yolk, cheese, cake make with white sugar or persimmon, mullet fish roe, dried cod.

2. Mildly acidic food: ham, bacon, chicken meat, squid, pork, eel, beef, bread, wheat, butter, horse meat etc.

3. Weakly acidic food: white rice, peanut, beer, alcohol, oil fried tofu, sea weed, clam, octopus, catfish.

4.. Weakly alkaline food:  red bean, radish, apple, cabbage, onion, tofu etc.

5.  Mildly alkaline food: dried radish, soya bean, carrot, tomato, banana, orange, pumpkin strawberry, egg white, dried plum, lemon, spinach, etc.

6. Strongly alkaline food: grape, tea leave, grape wine, kelp sprout, kelp, etc. Especially natural green algae which contain rich quantity of chlorophyll are very good alkaline health food, but tea should not be drunk in excess, and best to drink in the morning.

Acidic blood and cancer (Part 1)

Although sometimes we can’t really believe what the web says all the time, and there are so many emails telling lies – those are supposed to be scams. A friend of mine recently sent me an email that talks about acidic blood – which means the blood of a person eat a lot of meat instead of vegetables. I’m not sure if you’ve read it or not. After I read it, it seems like the assumption the doctor made is believable – “Under weakly alkaline condition, cancerous cells will not be able to grow or even to survive”.  I decide to share it with everyone here. Looking at it as case studies, I choose to believe most of it without too much of investigations. Whether you believe or not would be up to you, after all, I still have to say don’t believe in everything says here in this blog or on the web, and please use your own judgment.  The title of this article is “85% cancer patients belongs to acidic body type”. And the reason why you feel so tired is acidic blood.

————————-

More than 30 years ago, a Mr Zhang who worked in the public sales department of a Taipei Brewery, participated in the brewery overseas study selection examination, and passed with flying colours.

Before going overseas during the physical examination at a public hospital, it was discovered that he had a tumour growth in his lung the size of a child’s fist, and therefore was not able to go overseas to study.

The greatly disappointed Mr Zhang had always been suspicious that the diagnosis was wrong. So he went to another hospital for a check-up, the result confirm that the previous diagnosis was not in error.

For the youthful and healthy Mr Zhang to be stricken down with  such a terminal illness, in his despair, he rang his old classmate who at that time was Taidong County Government, Huangsun County Mayor’s secretary, Mr Wei.

Mr Wei rushed to Taipei during his rest day on a Sunday to see Mr Zhang.

Mr Zhang discussed with Mr Wei in detail his despair and pessimism, and entrusted his friend regarding his affairs after his death. Coincidentally, Mr Wei was a good friend of Dr Lu Geling, who was in  charge of the Maijie Hospital, 1945-55, and specialised in the clinical research into
cancer cases.

He immediately suggested that Mr Zhang go to see Dr Lu for treatment. At first, Mr Zhang said he preferred not to see anymore doctors, so as not to add further to his misery.

But Mr Wei told him that he had telephoned Dr Lu before to seek his advice and arranged an appointment. Mr Zhang felt obligated and went with Mr Wei to meet Dr Lu.

When Dr Lu met with Mr Zhang, Dr Lu said: ‘ Mr Wei is a friend and introduced you and I to get to know each other. This is destiny. Thank you. Let me ask you do you know why is cancer referred to as a terminal illness?’

Both Mr Zhang and Mr Wei did not know how to answer.

Dr Lu explained: ‘There are only two approaches taken by humans to treat cancer to-date. The first is to destroy the source of the disease. The second is to increase the capability to fight the disease.

But the strange thing is that, whether we use Cobalt 60 or other drugs to destroy the cancer cells, before the cancer cells are killed, the good cells are destroyed first.

On the other hand, no matter what nutrients or supplements we use,  before the good cells have a chance to absorb them, the cancer cells have taken them up and it simply speeds up the growth of cancer..

Therefore both approaches are doomed to failure, that is why cancer is terminal.’

Dr Lu continues: ‘Human beings are most clever, they have successfully landed on the moon. But why is it that no one ever questioned the above two approaches for treating cancer  which are nothing but self defeating dead-ends, and try to seek a third avenue?

When I was conducting clinical research in Majie Hospital, I had many opportunities to work with and being helped by many colleagues in the Hospital. I discovered that the blood tests of 100% of the cancer patients showed that the blood samples are acidic.

Those Buddhist monks and nuns who are long term vegetarians and live very close to Nature, their blood are prevalently weakly alkaline and amongst them, there has yet to discover any cancer cases.

Therefore, I boldly concluded that under weakly alkaline condition, cancer cells are not able to grow, or even to survive.

Mr Zhang, I would suggest that starting from now you reduce your intake of the acidic meaty  dishes.

Take more of the alkaline food. In addition you can take green algae and soup made from water chestnuts with skin, modify your physical condition, and try seriously to have a regular life style which is close to Nature;

If you can manage to stay alive for five years, you should have no further problem. I wish you the best of luck.’

Mr Zhang followed Dr Lu’s suggestion and seriously altered his eating habits.

Every day, he ate  green algae, drank chestnut soup, be optimistic and did an appropriate amount of exercise, and went back to the same public hospital for a check up. It was discovered that not only that the tumour did not increase in size, on the contrary it showed signs of shrinking, and
surprised the hospital staff conducting the check-up as a miracle. Five years later, the tumour had shrunk to such a state as to almost disappear.

After almost 40 years, presently Mr Zhang’s health is totally normal, and living a very pleasant life.

Following Mr Zhang, a Mr Chen Tianshou, who was previously Head of the General Administration of the Taidong Provincial Hospital, was similarly diagnosed with lung cancer.

When Mr Wei heard of this, he told Mr Chen of the experience of Mr Zhang, and Mr Chen started to follow the instructions of Dr Lu to change his physical condition. The outcome was that he was able to recover fully from the cancer, just like Mr Zhang.

At that time, Dr Lu and his family have emigrated to the United States. After the two cases, he returned to Taiwan and met up with Mr Wei.

Mr Wei told Dr Lu about the experiences of Mr Zhang and Mr Chen, and suggested that the two of them detailed their experiences to Dr Lu in person, so that Dr Lu could publish a report on his self cure body conditioning method.

Dr Lu very humbly replied:
‘I am too old, besides, I do not have any clinical records of the outcomes. I would ask that you tell your friends and relatives, if they are agreeable, then please continue this experience and spread the words ⋯ ⋯

〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜

One should take care of oneself but should also be caring about others, 85% of cancer patients have acidic in their physical condition.

***

Blood of healthy persons is weakly alkaline in nature, with a pH of about 7.35 to 7.45

***

Babies’ blood is also weakly acidic

***

As adults mature their blood becomes more acidic in nature

According to a study of 600 cancer patients, of their bodily fluid, 85% of the patients are acidic ..

Therefore, how to maintain the weakly acidic nature of our body is the first step for moving far away from diseases.

Orange Vs. Cough

Oranges

To stop coughing is always a hassle. I recently heard a special natural healing recipe that uses orange. It doesn’t matter how much vitamin C in an orange. Citrus in orange always triggers more coughs. So in traditional Chinese medical point of view, orange is always bad for coughing.  However, this easy recipe for healing cough is going the opposite – JUST use an orange, but BAKED in an oven first. Here are the steps:

The only ingredient is just a fresh orange. Peel off the skin of the top of the orange for about a size of a quarter coin. The purpose is to force the heat directly into the orange. Place the orange into the oven and bake for  10 minutes in high heat. There will be a nice, “moist” smell from the oven. After the top of the orange is shows a little burn, it’s time to pull it out. It’s very hot so be careful when you handle this round little thing. A baked or roasted orange is very easy to peel the skin off, and it’s sweeter than a fresh orange. Season with a little salt then it’s going to be even sweeter but also more effective to stop coughing. Especially if you just start coughing, usually just one baked orange will work. It doesn’t matter if it’s Sunkist or expensive Japanese orange, sea salt or kitchen salt, as long as they’re orange and salt then this formula should work.

A baked orange is very easy and inexpensive to prepare. The nice taste should keep the kids happy as well. At least there’s no side effects. It’s non-drowsy and it won’t ruin your appetite.

Story of Yunnan Baiyao (part 3)

1641380

(cont’d from part 2)

Yunnan Baiyao is best known to stop bleeding – A haemostatic medicine. however, because it contains many activating elements with complicated medical reactions, there are many uses other than stopping bleed:

Haemostatic medicine
Yunnan Baiyao is very effective with bleeding diseases and injuries. It can accelerate the haemostatic process and shorten the span of disease. There was research explaining the major role of Yunnan Baiyao is to shorten time for blood clotting and increase thrombin, while also leading blood platelets to gather and release. The haemostatic use of Yunnan Baiyao is very wide including bleeding through injuries, bleeding in digestive system, respiratory system, brain bleeding and a lot more.

Recovery of inflammation
Yunnan Baiyao can suppress the inflammatory elements. It’s effective on improving blood circulation and vascular permeability. During treatment, it works to relieve swollenness and bruises. Besides, it helps suppress the activity of bacteria and prevent the wounds from further inflammation.

Cure immune system disease
Yunnan Baiyao catalyze the secretion of adrenal cortex hormones, hence it helps healing the immune system.

Fight against tumors and cancers
In 1980s, the research bureau in United States discover that there are some elements in Yunnan Baiyao that helps treating tumors and cancers. In Japan there are some successful stories curing tumors and cancers using Yunnan Baiyao. However, it’s still waiting for further research to prove that.

Pain relief
The improvement of blood circulation and recovery of inflammation results a pain relief for injuries, dysmenorrhea and inflammatory pain. The relief of angina can be cause by the use of Yunnan Baiyao on increase of vascular notorious blood flow. Also Yunnan Baiyao can slow down heart beats, adjust blood pressure and reduce the vascular oxygen consumption.

Story of Yunnan Baiyao (part 2)

picsv56fy5n

(cont’d from part 1)

As mentioned in last post, the formula and the production method of Yunnan Baiyao has been a top secret and there’s only one copy heavily guarded in Chinese armed forces. Somehow certain books and magazines revealed a few formula and production methods, but the original Yunnan Baiyao owner said they’re all incorrect. The active ingredients and chemical structure have been a big concern for medical scientists around the world. They have tried a lot of different modern analysis to figure out what it is. They found many active compound including calcium phosphate.  However, different teams of researcher found different mixed components with different proportions. So it’s still a mystery of how it works.

For about half century, Yunnan Baiyao was in powder form in slightly yellow color with a special scent. It tastes a little bitter and sour, and brings a little cool and numbness to the tongue. However, powder form has a disadvantage of hard to determine serve size, and hard to swallow. As the medical industry grows, the forms of Yunnan Baiyao developed into different forms including pills, paste, and spray forms. On the other hand, according to the seriousness of the diseases or injuries, experienced traditional Chinese doctor would add Yunnan Baiyao into other herbal medicines and create other forms. Right now powder form is 4 grams a bottle and comes along with an emergency pill called “insurance pill”. It’s a little red pill and slightly brown inside, tastes bitter. I heard it saves people from death many times.

Story of Yunnan Baiyao (part 1)

20061226122528985

Last post we talked about “Yunnan Paiyao” to stop nosebleed. Yunnan Baiyao (or Yunnan Paiyao) (simplified Chinese: 云南白药; traditional Chinese: 雲南白藥) is a haemostatic powdered medicine. In fact, it’s become one of the most valuable patent formula in China and officially categorized as one of the two “Class -1 protected traditional patented formula” in 1995 by the government. It was famous being carried by Vietcong to stop bleeding during Vietnam War.

“Yunnan Baiyao” was created in 1902 by a Chinese doctor called Dr. Qu Huangzhang. He’s famous in Jiang Chuan county at Yunnan. However, in order to escape from the war, he wandered around and researched for 10 years with other doctors and finally invented this formula. His medicine and a few more formulas were patented in 1916 and allowed for sale. It became popular real quick because it’s inexpensive and really worked well, especially during the wars. Then he put more efforts on improvements and created variable forms of Yunnan Baiyao including pills, powder, sprays for different uses. There is even a pill that’s for emergency use – like a person is deeply hurt and about to die. So because of military purpose, the formula became a top secret that the government helps to keep.

(cont’d from last post)

Well, other than Perilla leaf, which is probably not easy to find any fresh ones around. There is another patent formula that stops bleeding. It’s a very famous medicine invented about a hundred years ago and commonly used during wars. For nosebleed, the use is a little different:

Mandarin pronunciation: Yun Nan Bai Yao (Meaning “Yunnan province white medicine”), also known as Yunnan Baiyao.

Description: To use this medicine to arrest a nosebleed, break open two capsules, pour the loose powder onto a cotton swab, then apply directly to the wound. Or, the powder can be inhaled or snuffed into the bleeding nostril. Apply direct pressure immediately, pinch and hold the nose for ten to fifteen minutes.

Caution: Pregnant woman MUST NOT use this medicine or it can cause miscarriage.

Dosage: It comes in boxes of 16 capsules, with instructions on  dosage.

Perilla Leaf for Nosebleed

2988207097_951b72edaa

Nosebleed is a pretty normal loss of blood from the mucus membrane that lines the nose. I believe nobody would never experienced nosebleed. Unless the bloody nose is recurring with high blood pressure (which is a sign of hypertension), or a bleeding disorder like leukemia or hemophilia, or a tumor of the nose or sinuses, usually most nosebleeds are caused by a blow to the nose, fragile blood vessels, colds, or other sinus infections.

Most nosebleeds can be controlled by the use of Chinese herbs that are used for first aid to stop bleeding. Here is one:

Zi Su Ye (Perilla Leaf)

The patient should lean forward with mouth open. Stuff the bleeding nostril with Chinese herb “Zi Su Ye, which is an herb with large leaves whose raw form will instantly check bleeding. Insert as much leaf as much the nostril will hold. Pinch and hold the nose for 10 to 15 mins after the leaf has been inserted. Try to breathe through the mouth until the bleeding stops. Use gauze if Zi Su Ye is not available. It’s not as effective but it will still work.
